Ananya-Global Concerns India
We are a registered non profit, secular organization working on human rights, with a special emphasis on the rights of women & the girl child. We partner with youth, men and all citizens as, we believe that each has a role and contributions to make towards curbing violence on women and children. Our work involves creating awareness and training women and children in the geographical areas we work in to become their own first line of defense. They are encouraged and enabled to challenge any form of violence, injustice or atrocity on them both inside their homes and in the community. We believe that women and children must become informed leaders in every sphere to transform their lives as well as those of around them. The awareness workshops targets people from all walks of life-police, government employees, teachers, students, rotatry/lion's club members, NGO staff including corporate bodies. The focus is to build in women across the strata the confidence and a passion to question any violence they maybe subjected to.
We intervene in individual cases with the assistance of the groups formed locally, so that in course of time collective action will become the norm and individuals and the community take the responsibility to challenge violence and more so the violence on women and children
We are part of the Campaign initiated by Prajwala called 'Movement Against Trafficking'. We are spearheading this campaign in Karnataka along with Mitr-Sanketa & ASTRA, in an effort to prevent, rescue, rehabilitate and reintegrate victims and survivors forced into the slavery called commercial sexual exploitation. Keeping in mind the vulnerabilities of people forced into this form of slavery by the political, social, religious, social, economic rigidities and often lopsided policies and corruption prevalent here-we work alongside elected women representative and women's self help groups towards building good accountable governance. Our maxim is to enable people from all walks of life to become leaders in their own spheres but leadership with values that transforms their lives and the lives of people around them. The emphasis is on women to break the silence against violence and become informed decisions makers and not hesitate voicing raising their voices for against any form of violence while reiterating recognition equality, justice and peace.
We believe that raising our voice against any form of violence and treating people with respect and dignity become part of our lives and a principle each of us lives by. This is the reason for a registered organization called Global Concerns India and the Community based collective called ANANYA.
