The National Assembly of Zambia marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence with a number of activities in a show of solidarity with the international community. The Parliament joined the rest of the country in commemorating the event under the national theme for 2011: “Create peace in the home for peace in Zambia: United we stand to end violence against women and children”. On 25 November, selected members of parliament took part in a march to commemorate the International Day and the 16 Days of Activism.
