A student led initiative with the help of other societies, with the aim of creating much needed awareness in regards to Ending Violence Against Women. Education acts a hindrance to the negative thoughts that grow into ideologies we often have to deal with in our lives.
In May this year, the Council of Europe opened a new convention to combat violence against women and domestic violence. It has been signed by 17 countries now, but the UK isn’t one of them.
A campaigning event in the Eastgate Centre, Basildon , Essex UK to raise awareness about UNiTE to Eliminate Violence Against Women Day. We shall collect signatures on our frieze on 24th November.
Katherine Ronderos, from the Central America Women’s Network (CAWN) and Evelyn and Mercedes Lainez, two women activists from Honduras, spoke on 2nd April, at a meeting of the London Branch of the UK National Committee for UN Women.
